The lighter spots on the bowl are grains
of rice inside the porcelain. If held up to the light you can see
the light coming through them. Includes two rosewood fitted bases.
Appraised around 1997 at
$500.00 by a Senior Member, Fine Arts, of the American Society of
Appraisers, and the Appraisers Association of America. He was
educated at the University of Houston; Academie Grande Chaumiere,
Paris, France; The Art Students League of New York, New York City;
Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Colorado; Museum of Fine Arts,
Houston; and studied Ceramics throughout Sweden, Texas Swedish
Cultural Foundation (scholarship to Konstfackskolan, Stockholm,
Sweden).
His experience
includes Appraiser of Fine Arts, International Lecturer and Expert
Witness; Fine Arts Appraiser for the Internal Revenue, Federal
Deposit Insurance Corporation; Federal Bureau of Investigation; U.S.
Customs; U. S. Marshall's Office; and various museums and private
collections. He is a member or officer in many professional art
associations, including Houston Art Dealers Association; African
