Porcelain with blue underglaze
Gourd-shaped blue underglazed ginger jar with flat wooden lid
with circular designs on top, blue lines around white neck, four
large underglazed blue Chinese good luck characters on side
separated by blue leafed designs above good luck symbols, white
foot.

Appraised in 2003 at a retail
value of $7,500.00 by a Senior Member, Fine Arts, of the American
Society of Appraisers, and the Appraisers Association of America. He
was educated at the University of Houston; Academie Grande Chaumiere,
Paris, France; The Art Students League of New York, New York City;
Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Colorado; Museum of Fine Arts,
Houston; and studied Ceramics throughout Sweden, Texas Swedish
Cultural Foundation (scholarship to Konstfackskolan, Stockholm,
Sweden). His experience
includes Appraiser of Fine Arts, International Lecturer and Expert
Witness; Fine Arts Appraiser for the Internal Revenue, Federal
Deposit Insurance Corporation; Federal Bureau of Investigation; U.S.
Customs; U. S. Marshall's Office; and various museums and private
collections. He is a member or officer in many professional art
associations, including Houston Art Dealers Association; African
American Heritage Museum, Houston; Oriental Ceramics Society,
Houston; Ima Hogg Ceramic Circle, Houston; Houston Philosophical
Society; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. He has been Instructor of
Fine Arts at the College of the Mainland, Texas; Women's Institute,
Houston; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and University of
Houston.
